Jasmin Savoy Brown has been everywhere lately. From the instant cult classic Showtime show Yellowjackets to the latest entry in classic franchise Scream, this 27-year-old biracial lesbian actress has been making a big impression with her queer roles and unapologetic view on queer joy — and we’re swooning big time for her.

Here are five reasons why we’re currently swooning over Jasmin Savoy Brown:

1. She brought queer representation to one of our favorite horror franchises.

Like Randy did in his brief video appearance in Scream 3, Mindy figures out what the new Ghostface terrorizing Woodsboro is trying to do. But we most loved getting to see Jasmin Savoy Brown’s character put her wiles to work and hookup during the house party scene. Yay, queer horror film representation!

2. On Yellowjackets she’s our favorite flashback character.

Yellowjackets has been taking the internet by storm, and the praise it’s been getting is well-deserved. Brown plays the teen version of Taissa Turner, a lesbian character in the Showtime show about a high school girls’ soccer team whose plane crashes in a spooky stretch of wilderness. Fingers crossed we get to see a second season of Yellowjackets sooner than later.

3. She’s now a podcast host!

In an interview with Variety, Brown says this about the podcast:

It’s joyful; it’s inquisitive; it’s welcoming. I think it’s a real reflection of the LGBTQ+ community and I hope our listeners feel the same. Interviewing guests this season made me a better person. Hearing people’s unique stories and perspectives on life and happiness was a learning experience and I don’t take that for granted.

4. She’s kinda-sorta a part of the Marvel Universe.

You may not have realized it, but Jasmin Savoy Brown voiced and did the motion capture for Phineas “Phin” Mason, also known as Tinkerer, an antagonist in the 2020 video game Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Originally a cis white male, Brown’s interpretation of the tinkerer is an example of how the gaming industry is slowly diversifying.

In the game, Phin Mason is one of Miles’s childhood friends. She seeks to avenge the death of her brother at the hands of Roxxon Energy, a company run by Simon Krieger.

5. And because there’s literally nothing Jasmin Savoy Brown can’t do, we love her foray into music, too!

That’s right, not only is she a fantastic actress, but she’s an incredible singer/songwriter, too. Her first single, “Crash,” is an emotional acoustic song written and produced while in lockdown after a breakup.

Are you swooning over Jasmin Savoy Brown like we are?
